J.G.O’HARE & CO offer the following services for CWU Members.

  1. Free Interview.

A free initial interview for legal advice on any legal topic without obligation is available to all CWU members and their families / dependants. To avail of this all you have to do is telephone and arrange an appointment or alternatively you can arrange the appointment through your local Branch of the CWU.

  1. Accident at Work.

Your employer has an obligation to provide you with a safe system of work, a safe place of work and to provide you with safe equipment to use at work.

If you have been injured at work you may be entitled to compensation. Through your Union you are entitled to have a possible claim investigated and if there is reasonable prospect of success your Union will back your claim through the courts.

All you have to do is contact your Branch Secretary/ Legal & Medical Secretary, who will have you complete an application form which will be forwarded to CWU HQ and then onto J.G.O’HARE & CO.

  1. Industrial Diseases.

At common law and by statue employees are obliged to take reasonable steps to prevent their workers being affected by prescribed industrial diseases in the course of their employment. Traditionally the most common diseases to effect workers have been dermatitis and chest disease such as asbestosis. In modern age workers have been effected by RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) and Stress.

The more traditional prescribed industrial diseases are more commonly associated with other types of employment but members of your family may have been effected and our free initial interview is available to any members of your family.
