CWU Members Overwhelmingly Reject Post Office Pay Offer
CWU
has conducted a consultative ballot among Post Office staff which has resulted in 91% rejecting Post Office Ltd’s
below-inflation pay offer of 2.4%. Unless negotiations are re-opened staff could be headed for an industrial action dispute.
National Officer Andy Furey said: Post Office staff have had their say on the pay offer and have given a clear
answer 2.4% is not good enough.
I am determined to achieve a negotiated pay settlement with the business
and hope that the ballot result will encourage POL management to reconsider their offer and respond positively to our members.
I have written to Alan Cook, Managing Director of POL, informing him of our member’s outright rejection
of POL’s offer and inviting him to enter into meaningful negotiations with the Union.
I have made
it clear that the decision to reject the offer was made in the full knowledge that if no breakthrough is achieved it could
eventually lead to an industrial action ballot and dispute. This course of action would only be taken as a last resort, but
POL have to understand the gravity of this situation and improve their derisory pay offer.”
